Propagation methods: seeds. Seeds are sown in beds in Spring or Autumn. Seeds are very small. 8000 - 10000 seeds per 1 gram. 1000 seedlings per 1 gram of seed sown. Seedlings should be pricked up. Seedlings are thinned out, if seeds are sown in the final growing place. Papaver alpinum should be planted at a distance of 15 - 20 cm, Papaver nudicaule should be planted at a distance of 20 - 25 cm, Papaver orientale should be planted at a distance of 35 - 40 cm. Papaver orientale 9 plants per square meter, other species about 20 – 30 plants per square meter. Papaver orientale could be propagated by scrub division (in August). Roots should be protected from damage. |
