{"id":11,"date":"2014-07-15T13:56:09","date_gmt":"2014-07-15T13:56:09","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/flores.lt\/en\/?page_id=11"},"modified":"2021-10-15T18:13:15","modified_gmt":"2021-10-15T18:13:15","slug":"about","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/flores.lt\/en\/about\/","title":{"rendered":"Steps of Assortment Creation of Ornamental Herbaceous Plants"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>There is designed\u00a0variety of assortment layouts of\u00a0herbaceous\u00a0plants \u00a0in Lithuania.\u00a0Usually it is the plant lists in tables.\u00a0Plants by bioecological floral groups are sorted alphabetically \u00a0in these tables, also are described plant morphology, bioecological characteristics and application possibilities in variuos type parterres.<\/p>\n<p>Flowerbed designers should recognize plants, know their scientific names and be able to choose appropriate plants.<\/p>\n<p>In our new assortment herbaceous plants are divided into two groups:<\/p>\n<p>Main assortment (ornamental herbaceous plants with extensive use of opportunities and often used in flowerbeds in Lithuania.<\/p>\n<p>Supplementary assortment (ornamental herbaceous plants used rarely with unique characteristics or newly introduced.<\/p>\n<p>The main point of ornamental herbaceous plant assortment is flowerbed.<\/p>\n<p>Plant search for desired flowerbed is implemented according to the following scheme:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>PARTERRE;<\/li>\n<li>GROWING PLACE CHARACTERISTICS;<\/li>\n<li>BIOECOLOGICAL FLOWER GROUP;<\/li>\n<li>PLANT HEIGHT AND HABITUS;<\/li>\n<li>BLOOMING TIME AND DURATION;<\/li>\n<li>BLOSSOM (LEAF) COLOR;<\/li>\n<li>ORNAMENTALITY DURATION.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>Each link in the scheme subdivided into several positions<\/p>\n<p><strong>FLOWERBEDS<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><em>REGULAR (GEOMETRIC PLANNING):<\/em><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>BORDERS;<\/li>\n<li>CLUMP, BEDS (MIXBORDER)<\/li>\n<li>FLOWERBED, PARTERRES<\/li>\n<li>PODS<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><em>FREE PLANNING:<\/em><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>GROUPS<\/li>\n<li>ROCKERY, RETAINING WALLS<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><em>SPECIAL PURPOSE (COMPOSITE STRUCTURES):<\/em><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>CEMETERY<\/li>\n<li>VANDENS TELKINI\u0172 IR PAKRAN\u010cI\u0172;<\/li>\n<li>WATER BODIES AND COASTAL<\/li>\n<li>COMBINATION WITH WOODY PLANTS<\/li>\n<li>SOLITAIRE<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><strong>GROWING PLACE CHARACTERISTICS<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The flowers can be grown in different places. Growing place characteristics should be evaluated choosing plants. The flowers can be grown:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>IN WATER<\/li>\n<li>WET SOILS<\/li>\n<li>AVERAGE WET SOILS<\/li>\n<li>DRY SOILS<\/li>\n<li>ACIDIC SOIL<\/li>\n<li>CALCAREOUS SOILS<\/li>\n<li>HELIOPHILOUS<\/li>\n<li>HALF HELIOPHOBIC<\/li>\n<li>HELIOPHOBIC<\/li>\n<li>SOILS WITH SPECIAL CONDITIONS<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><strong>BIOECOLOGICAL FLOWER GROUPS:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>ANNUAL (typical annuals; non-typical annuals).<\/li>\n<li>BIENNIAL;<\/li>\n<li>PERENNIAL (Short-lived (3-4 years);\u00a0Intermediate type (5-6 years);\u00a0Long-lived (&gt;7 years).<\/li>\n<li>NO HARDY PERENNIALS (outdoor plants (beds); houseplants are grown outdoors in summer);<\/li>\n<li>BULBOUS<\/li>\n<li>CORM<\/li>\n<li>ROSES.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><strong>PLANT HEIGHT AND HABITUS:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>VERY SHORT (foreground plants) \u2013 till 20 cm height<\/li>\n<li>SHORT \u2013 21-40 cm<\/li>\n<li>MIDDLE HEIGHT \u2013 41- 60 cm<\/li>\n<li>TALL\u00a0 &#8211; 61-80 cm<\/li>\n<li>VERY TALL \u2013 81 cm and over<\/li>\n<li>FLOWER WITH EXPRESSIVE HABITUS, FOR DESIGN AS ACCENT<\/li>\n<li>FLOWER WITH NON-EXPRESSIVE HABITUS, FOR BACKGROUND<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><strong>BLOOMING TIME AND BLOOMING PERIOD:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Marking months and decade.To make it easier using these parameters, plant blooming period are classified into flowering seasons:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>EARLY SPRING &#8211; March &#8211; April First Decade<\/li>\n<li>SPRING &#8211; April Second Decade &#8211;\u00a0 June First Decade<\/li>\n<li>1-ST HALF OF THE SUMMER &#8211; June 2-nd decade- July 2-nd decade<\/li>\n<li>2-ND HALF OF THE SUMMER\u00a0 &#8211; July Third Decade &#8211; August<\/li>\n<li>AUTUMN &#8211; September &#8211; October<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>Even better to choose plants according to the blooming range, which can be seen not only in flowering time but also its duration. This is especially important for perennial flowers, because their blooming is distributed throughout the growing season.<\/p>\n<p><strong>PLANT COLOR:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Ornamental herbaceous plants have colorful leaves and blossom. Blossom and leaves can be:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>WHITE;<\/li>\n<li>YELLOW, YELLOW TINTS;<\/li>\n<li>ORANGE;<\/li>\n<li>RED, RED TINTS<\/li>\n<li>VIOLET;<\/li>\n<li>BLUE, BLUE TINTS;<\/li>\n<li>GREEN;<\/li>\n<li>PURPLE;<\/li>\n<li>VARIEGATED;<\/li>\n<li>STRIPED;<\/li>\n<li>GREY;<\/li>\n<li>BROWN.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>Plants blooming in different colors, are assigned to the same color group.<\/p>\n<p><strong>GENERAL ORNAMENTALITY AND GENERAL ORNAMENTALITY:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Decorative duration is determined by the following criteria: shrub, leaves, flowers, fruit ornamentally and flower decorations duration.
